Laura Anti was born into a California-based musical family and raised in Los Angeles. With a pianist grandmother whose nine children performed as a rock-n-roll family band (The Weirz) throughout the 70’s, and parents who fell in love when they started a band together in the early 80's, Laura was destined for a deep connection to music. Since she began writing her own songs on guitar at the age of 14, songwriting has been mostly a private and casual pursuit for her.

She began working as a session vocalist in her late teens before starting her own band and performing with other local bands; then she decided to take a break from Los Angeles to get her university degree while studying and living in Paris. Although her focus during that time was her studies, songwriting always remained an important part of her life. She moved back to L.A. for a year and a half (2015-2017) and recorded and released, Lamentations, her first solo EP containing five songs written during her December 2016 cruise to the Caribbean while recovering from a bad breakup. Her love of 60’s and 70’s Brazilian music as well as 90’s European and American indie pop (Komeda, Stereolab, Elastica, The Cardigans) can be heard in this new material, told by way of the warm voice of a DIY L.A. gal who self-records using a pair of Apple earbuds as her microphone.
